Nursing Informatics is the all-encompassing term covering the knowledge, skills and tools that enable information to be collected, managed, used and shared to support the delivery of nursing care and promotion of health. It, thus, includes e-health, consumer health informatics, ubiquitous computing and the rest of today's important themes. Nursing informatics is about people, the caregivers, using technology to improve the service they give to their clients.

The conference recognizes the need for discussion and information on the whole spectrum: research, practice, education and policy changes - providing the largest nursing informatics conference in the world. Presentations will range from high-level world wide standards to detailed technical solutions. The range of topics will reflect the nature of nursing informatics.

I invite you to participate and share your views as a paper or poster presenter, tutorial leader, panel/workshop member, exhibitor, or participant. 9th International Congress on Nursing Informatics

 The International Medical Informatics Association Special Interest Group on Nursing Informatics - IMIA-NI- is delighted to promote the 9th International Congress on Nursing Informatics and warmly invites you to participate. IMIA-NI which has been in existence now for twenty-one years, provides a key forum for promoting nursing informatics worldwide. Our main aims are to explore the scope of Nursing Informatics and its implications for nursing and, through its activities, support the development of Nursing Informatics in member countries. A key activity that helps these aims is the International Congress which is held every 3 years. This event brings together nurses and nurse informaticians from across the world to share research and experience in nursing informatics together with providing a platform for discussion, debate and developments.

The collective strength of IMIA-NI as a team is inspiring and our current strategy, which focuses on the Past, the Profession and the Possibilities, will be enhanced by the commitment and effort of the KOSMI-NI together with IMIA-NI members who make up the Scientific Programme Committee, the Organizing Committee, and the participants who contribute to and attend the Congress. Participants can reflect on the Past by sharing their experiences and lessons learnt on nursing informatics. Participation at the congress will help inform, involve and consult with the nursing Profession internationally and encourage discussion on nursing informatics priorities to improve world health. The Possibilities can be explored to find creative solutions through the understanding and use of nursing informatics to address the many issues facing the delivery of nursing care to individuals, communities and populations world wide.

As Chair of IMIA-NI, I would like to invite you to participate in this important event as a presenter, tutorial leader, panel member, student, supplier or participant.
