I am very pleased to welcome
all of you to the 6th Korea-Japan Joint Symposium on Gastrointestinal
Endoscopy. I believe that the previous five symposia have
helped advance Gastrointestinal Endoscopy in both countries
as much as it has built a stronger relationship between
the doctors of the two countries.
As therapeutic endoscopy has progressed significantly,
mainly due to the devotion of Japanese and Korean doctors,
the Joint Symposium between our two countries required
us to take a leap forward unlike any other we had taken.
Recently, countries throughout the world have started
to focus on therapeutic endoscopy as Korean and Japanese
doctors seem likely to lead this area in the future.
In order to assume a leading
position in the coming era of endoscopy, we will, for
the first time, take on the 6th Korea-Japan Joint Symposium
in the form of a live demonstration. In this symposium,
prestigious doctors from both countries will demonstrate
their skills and discuss the advantages and limitations
of therapeutic endoscopy. This live demonstration will
be a key event for doctors globally, not to mention a
great step towards the future of the Korea-Japan Joint
Symposium.
I'd like to thank everyone from the Japanese Gastroenterological
Endoscopy Society and the Korean Society of Gastrointestinal
Endoscopy for helping this live demonstration to take
place despite many obstacles. I hope many members from
both societies will attend and enjoy this dynamic live
demonstration in our dynamic Korea.
Welcome to Dynamic Korea and Dynamic Symposium!
Kyu Yong Choi, M.D.
